Frances Prime

March 16, 1924 ~ June 21, 2016 (age 92) 92 Years Old

The death of Frances Prime, who was born on March 16, 1924, occurred at Halifax, N.S. on June 21, 2016.  Frances, a native of Saint John, has resided in Halifax, Hong Kong and Florida, and at the time of her death, was a resident of Maplestone Enhanced Care, Halifax.  Frances was predeceased by her parents, Harry B. Prime and Helen (Fowler) Prime, and her three siblings, Ethel (Fowler) Horton, Lawrence B. Prime and Ralph E. Prime.  She is survived by two nephews, Bliss (Joyce) of Ottawa, Ontario, and Leslie Buchanan of Ladysmith, B.C., five nieces, Brenda Prime of Saint John, Barbara (Prime) and Jean–Francois Fauteux of Ottawa, Carolyn (Prime) and Scott Shepherd of Hennessy, B.C., Laura (Prime) and Jim Hendry of Cornwall, Ontario and Andrea (Prime)and Stephen Titus of Saint John, several great nieces and nephews.  She is also survived by a foster son, Edwin Lee (Lee Chun Tai) of Markham, Ontario, and her dear best friend, Sharon Sinnott, of Halifax.

Frances “Frannie” was employed with Prudential Insurance, both in Saint John and Halifax. Following early retirement, Frances lived and worked in Hong Kong for 4 years, and Palm Beach, Florida for several years. She loved to travel and had many stories to tell of things she experienced and people she met.  She made many friends and loved to visit them and have them visit with her. She returned to Nova Scotia in 2004.

Frances was a member of Lancaster Baptist Church in Saint John and during her younger years taught C.G.I.T., directed the Junior Choir and sang in the Senior Choir. In Florida she was very involved in her church, and for many years was part of the “Singing Christmas Tree”.  She was well known for her singing talent and was often requested to sing at various functions. She loved music and this was a big part of her life.  She was also an avid camper at Camp Wegesegum and attended there regularly throughout her adult life. She was a fun and loving aunt who will be sadly missed by her friends and family.

A celebration of Frances' life will be held on Thursday, August 4th at 2pm, from the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will take place in Greenwood Cemetery on Friday, August 5th at 10:00 am.
