Florence Katherine (Munn) Palmer

With sadness and also a sense of peace for a long life well lived, the family of Florence Katherine Palmer announce her passing which occurred at Rocmaura Nursing Home on August 5, 2017.  She was born on October 24, 1922 in Hayesville, NB to the late Joseph and Tressa Munn.

Florence was a laborer at Harrt Shoe Factory for 23 years.  She came from a very large family so she did what she could to make her presence known.  She was always a quiet woman, but you certainly knew better than to sass her or she would become not so quiet.  She loved her home in Astle, and loved her family.  Her and her husband Otto did not have any children, so her nieces and nephews received all the time and attention she could give them.    

She is survived by her brother Hedley Munn, and two sisters; Ellen (Robert) McKeown and Ada (Milton) Palmer, along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.  In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her four brothers; Clarence, Burton, Edwin and Warden and her sister Viola Jones. 

The Palmer family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Rocmaura for the care and compassion they showed to Florence during her time there. 

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) where visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 from 1-3:30pm.  A funeral service will be held from the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel following the visitation on Wednesday at 4pm with a reception to follow in the Fundy Funeral Home Reception Room.   A family burial will take place in Astle Cemetery on Thursday, August 10, at 1pm.  For those who wish, donations in memory of Florence made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
