It is with deep sadness that the family of Fernand Joseph Aubin announce his passing at the Saint John Regional Hospital after a period of illness on October 29, 2017. He was born on June 14, 1933 in Grand Falls, NB to the late Majorique and Addee (Pelletier) Aubin.
Fernand spent his career as a carpenter. He was a very hardworking man who enjoyed working with his hands. Growing up in Grand Falls made him appreciate the outdoors and he spent a lot of time in the woods and surrounding locations, sometimes hunting, sometimes just enjoying nature. In addition to the outdoors, he also surprised many by his recent love of roller coasters. Fernand was a faithful man and after moving to Saint John, he became a member of the First Wesleyan Church in 1983. He was a family man and was a role model for all. He loved spending time with his children and seemed to shine once he became a grandfather and then a great grandfather, multiple times over. Spending time with his great granddaughter Brooklyn brought such a twinkle to his eyes. He was a very kind man who would do anything for anyone and will be remembered fondly by all who had the opportunity to meet him and enjoy his company.
Fernand is survived by his two sons; Jeffery (Shirl) and Gary, five daughters; Florence (Harold), Brenda, Esther (Ken) , Rhonda (Clare) and Judy, 25 grandchildren, several great grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, brothers Leo “Guy” (Linda) and Gilbert, sister Irma Nason as well as several nieces, nephews and friends.
Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his much adored wife, Velma, son Rodney, daughter Velma “Fe”, infant daughter Harriet, sisters Ce’dee Dube and Juilette Levesque, and brothers Aurel, Wilfred and Arthlin.
Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) where visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 from 4-8 p.m. A memorial service will be held at First Wesleyan Church (399 Boars Head Road) at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 2, 2017 with a reception to follow. Private Family interment at Ocean View Memorial Gardens. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Palliative Care Unit at the Saint John Regional Hospital to the charity of the donor’s choice. Online condolences may be made at www.fundyfuneralhome.com.
