Welcome to the memorial page for

Evangeline Bertha Rogers

March 12, 1927 ~ April 18, 2017 (age 90) 90 Years Old

It is with heartfelt sadness we announce the death of our Mother, Evangeline Bertha Rogers, beloved wife of the late Allan Rogers, which occurred on April 18, 2017 at Rocmaura Nursing Home.  Born in St. Louis de Kent in March of 1927, she was the daughter of the late Amédee and Bertha (Gallant) Maillet.

Evangeline is survived by her children; Janice Annette Robertson and her husband Frank of Saint John, and Norman Allan Rogers and his wife Belinda of Quispamsis.  Evangeline was a loving and devoted grandmother to René (Lynn), Roger, Lisa, Laura and Matthew and great-grandmother to Allan, Ella, Maddison and Marissa.   She is survived by her sister Fernande.  She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews.   She was predeceased by her sisters; Andrea, Laurette, Juliette, Irma as well as infant sisters Laurette and Fernande and her brother Ulric.

Evangeline was a supportive and devoted companion to her husband as well as a loving and dedicated mother to her children.  She always encouraged her children and showed great enthusiasm for anything and everything they wanted to achieve in life.  For many years, Evangeline also worked outside the home as a bilingual secretary with Canadian Mental Health Association helping people throughout the province and beyond.

Evangeline first came to Saint John from St. Louis de Kent in the early 1940’s to commence her working career.  It was during that time that she met her husband Allan.  They married and together raised their family.  She and Allan enjoyed many happy times with their family, relatives and friends at their cottage at Cap Bimet, NB.  Evangeline loved the company of her many friends and they shared their interests in crafts and sewing.  They played cards at their regular Saturday night get togethers.

She will be remembered best for her gentle personality, her patience and especially her generosity to others, particularly the under privileged and those in need.   Her children and grandchildren in particular will miss the special love and attention she showed to each one of them.  She was a devout Roman Catholic and was a lifelong member of the CWL and believed strongly in the power of prayer.

Evangeline’s children would like to acknowledge all of those who cared for her over the years following her decline in health.  There are too many names to mention, however they are very appreciative of the people who were so engaged to make this difficult journey more bearable.  Thank you Rocmaura Nursing Home staff for their love and kindness over the last 7 years.

Visiting will be held at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424), on Thursday from 2 - 8:00PM.   A funeral liturgy will be held from the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, April 21, 2017 at 10am, followed by interment in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.  Remembrances to the New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Rocmaura Nursing Home Foundation or to the Alzheimer’s Society would be appreciated by the family.
