Welcome to the memorial page for

Edna Brewer

February 2, 1927 ~ February 21, 2017 (age 90) 90 Years Old

It is a sad day for the Mitchell and Brewer families.  Edna Brewer passed away February 21st, 2017 at the Saint John Regional Hospital with family at her bedside.  She had just celebrated her 90th birthday.

Edna, loving spouse of Jack Brewer for 69 years, was born February 2nd, 1927.  At the time of her birth she lived on Partridge Island where her father was the Assistant Lighthouse Keeper.  From there the family moved to Cape Spencer where her father was the Lighthouse Keeper.  Edna spent a wonderful childhood there with her 10 siblings.

Edna was the daughter of Marion (Lee) and Charles Ogg Mitchell.

She attended a one room school house in Mispec.  She graduated from Saint John Vocational School in 1945 and then worked as a Stenographer for the Provincial Veterans Land Act retiring in 1985.

Edna and Jack were the most amazing in laws and grandparents one could wish for.

Edna and Jack travelled the world but their favorite spot was the cottage they built themselves on Mackins Lake.  They spent many happy days there with their children, grandchildren, family and friends.

Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her son David (2002) and daughter Judy (2016); sisters Agnes Mitchell, Lena Reid (Bert), Betty Parks (Ray), Jean Barnett (Russ) and Marion Eastwood (Karl).

Edna loved her two children Judy and David.  She is now with them in Heaven cooking up a storm with Judy and riding on the back of David’s Harley.

Edna had many interests besides Jack, including family, softball, bowling, Naturalist Club, senior games, bingo, 45’s and dancing where she met the love of her life Jack at the Orange Hall.

Edna is survived by her daughter-in-law Debbie and grandchildren Jeffrey (Laura) and Jaclyn (Matthew); her son-in-law Bob Lank and grandchildren Kathleen (Steve) and Adam; sisters Pat Mitchell and Dorothy Boddington (Fred); brothers Billy (Shirley), Bob (Geraldine) and Gordon (Mary); sisters-in-law Kay Risk, Connie Gaudet, Joyce Brewer, Grace Brewer, and several nieces, nephews, and friends.

Edna was a member of St. John’s (Stone) Church.
