It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Edward Albert Elder which occurred at Bobby’s Hospice on Tuesday, May 2nd, 2017. Born 1946, in Saint John, he was the son of the late Charles and Irene (Simpson) Elder. Eddie worked as a Welder for Irving Pulp and Paper for several years before retiring in 2006. He loved his colleagues and was known as “Elder the Welder” or “Bubbles”. Eddie also loved spending time at the Fish and Brews Pub with family and friends.
Eddie is survived by his loving and devoted wife Nancy (Patterson) of 51 years; son Scott Elder of Moncton; daughters Lori Hayman (Alan) of Quispamsis, Cindy Elder (Ed Whitaker) of Saint John, Kelley Elder (Jason Hipson) of Saint John; sister Barbara Morley of Toronto; grandchildren Brandon, Brittany, Amber, Carissa, Amanda, Darrah; great-grandchildren Madeline, Kylee, Jordyn, Mason and Reid; as well as several nieces, nephews and friends. Besides his parents, Eddie was predeceased by his brother David Elder and brother-in-law Al Morley.
Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visitation being held on Friday, May 5th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. A Memorial Service will take place from Church of the Good Shepherd (668 Manawagonish Road, Saint John) on Saturday, May 6th at 11 a.m. Interment will be held at a later date.
Donations in Eddie’s memory may be made to Bobby’s Hospice or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
