Donnie Reilly

It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Donald James Stephen Reilly which occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Friday, January 12th, 2018.  Born 1948, in Port Elgin, NB, he was the son of the late Amos and Myrtle (Johnson) Reilly and also birth mother Betty Jean Jones.  Donnie worked as a welder at the Dry Dock for several years.  He was a former member of the Freedom Riders Motorcycle Club.  He enjoyed playing pool and he loved his Shelties Marcus, Brittany and Sparky.

Donnie is survived by his loving wife Georgina (McKnight); son Trever Grant (Myla); grandson Austin Grant; siblings Joan Taylor, Elaine Davison, Judy Banks, Buddy Jones (Joanne), Patsy Rose (Rick), Donna Jones (Trevor), Kevin Terrace (Paulette), Rob Vandam (Brenda), Wayne Jones (Linda), Kevin Jones, Richard Jones, Robert Jones (Kim); brother-in-law Harley McKnight; sister-in-law Marilyn Bovaird (David); as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.  Besides his parents, Donnie was predeceased by his son Troy, twins Christopher and Curtis Grant, and brothers Stephen Jones, Albert Francis Reilly and James Reilly.

Many thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff of 4C South at the Saint John Regional Hospital Dialysis Department for their kindness and care of Donnie.

Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visitation being held on Tuesday, January 16th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. with a Tribute to a Veteran Service beginning at 7 p.m.  A Funeral Service will take place from the former St. Joachim’s Parish, (603 Loch Lomond Road) on Wednesday, January 17th at 11 a.m.  Interment will take place at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Donnie may be made to the Kidney Foundation, Heart & Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick, or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
