Donald Frederick Verner

It is with great sadness that we announce passing of Donald Frederick Verner on November 6, 2017 at the Saint John Regional Hospital after a brief illness.  He was born in Saint John on March 5, 1951 to the late Frederick and Eleanor (Jones) Verner and was the loving husband of Nancy (Rioux) Verner for 48 years.

Don was a very loving and caring man.  He began his career as a pipefitter at the Dry Dock in Saint John and spent his later years working with Taxi Services as dispatch and driver.  He loved music with his whole heart and loved to sit down and strum on his guitar.  Don was very fond of watching old movies and greatly enjoyed watching the Discovery Channel.  He liked to learn new things.  Most of all he devoted his life to his family.  He would do anything for his family and greatly enjoyed his grandchildren and great grandchild.  His family will greatly miss this wonderful man, he was taken from them much too soon. 

Along with his loving wife Nancy, he is survived by his daughter Angela (Terry Jardine) Leger, 2 grandchildren; Soleil (Danny) and Dylan, and great granddaughter Emerson.  As well, his brother Thomas, 4 sisters; Shirley, Heather, Penny and Donna, brothers and sisters-in-law; John, Donnie, Jimmy, Jane, Diane and Doris, father-in-law Camille Rioux as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his mother-in-law Ethel. 

Arrangements are entrusted to the Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) where a funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at 10 am from the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel with visitation being held one hour prior from 9-10am.  Interment will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.  For those who wish, memorial donations in Don’s memory made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by his family.
