Dave R. Elward

With heavy hearts, the family of Dave Elward announces his passing, which occurred on January 9th, 2018, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Dave was born in Saint John on June 13, 1991; a son of David and Michelle (Napier) Elward, and the loving husband of his high school sweetheart, Nicole (Harwood) Elward; Dave and Nicole met in Grade 10, at age 15. Dave graduated with Honours from Saint John High School in 2009, and then attended NBCC’s Welding program, graduating on the Dean’s List in 2010. From there, he attended Holland College’s Commercial Diving program, graduating in 2013. Following this, he went on to work for Cooke’s Aquaculture. He loved hockey, dirt bikes, four wheelers, his beloved dog Phoenix, and most of all, working in the garage on trucks with his boys. In addition to his parents, David and Michelle, and his wife Nicole, Dave is survived by his two sons, Colton (5) and Kolby (3), brother Michael Elward (Emma Blanchard), sister Chelsea Elward (Kye Cowper), nephew Landon MacIntosh, and grandfather Richard Napier. He is also fondly remembered by his father-in-law Paul Harwood, sister-in-law Kimberly Harwood (Mark Legere), as well as brothers-in-law Bradly and Dylan Harwood, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. Dave was pre-deceased by his aunt, Jim Cole.

Words cannot describe the appreciation of Dr. Comeau and the extremely loving team of 5A South Oncology at the Saint John Regional Hospital. During Dave’s journey, they kept him in great spirits, and always made him smile. Dave’s family would like to thank them with the deepest gratitude.

Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) with visitation on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. The funeral service will be held from the former St. Joachim’s Parish, 603 Loch Lomond Road on Friday, January 12th at 2:00 p.m. Interment will take place at Fernhill Cemetery.  For those who wish, remembrances to a Living Memorial would be appreciated by the family.
