Carolyn Joy (Johnson) Kerr

June 4, 1939 ~ May 1, 2017 (age 77) 77 Years Old

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Carolyn Joy (Johnson) Kerr at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Monday, May 1, 2017. Born June 4, 1939 in Truro, Nova Scotia she was the daughter of the late Lewis and Hazel Muriel (Cochrane) Johnson. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband of 60 years Allan Marshall Kerr on February 24, 2017 and brother Thomas Johnson.

Carolyn was an active member of the former Red Head United Church and Park Avenue United Church, serving as secretary for many years. She was an avid quilter with the Victoria Quilters, Stella Maris Quilting Group, Blue Nose Guild and the Marco Polo Quilters. Her career included working for the Bank of Nova Scotia, Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, as well as the Crown Prosecutors Office in the Victim Impact Unit. Aside from her talents in crafts which she shared with many, her family and faith were her greatest accomplishments. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She will always be remembered for her kind heart and warm smile.

She is survived by her son Allan “Dwight” Kerr, daughter Susan Joy Smith and granddaughter Sue Ann Rose Smith; sister Valerie Lirette (Allain) of Scoudouc, NB; brother Lewis David Johnson (Shelia) of Kingston, ON; along with nieces, nephews and cousins.

A celebration of Carolyn’s life will be held from Park Avenue Church, 101 Wilton Street, Saint John on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at 11 a.m. followed by a reception in the church hall. A private family interment will take place in Fernhill Cemetery. In honour of Carolyn, please wear your favorite colour at her funeral to form a quilt of many colours. Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, (646-2424).
