At the Saint John Regional Hospital with his loving family at his side, Bert Anthony went to be with his Lord and Saviour on Sunday November 19, 2017. Born at Wilson’s Beach, Campobello Island, NB on March 17, 1930; he was the son of the late Mayford and Alberta (Corey) Anthony. Bert worked for Auto Tec (Battery & Electric) for over 47 years and retired as General Manager in 1995. He was an active member of Edith Avenue Baptist Church, a Trustee and member of the church choir. Bert and his wife Doreen enjoyed traveling and spent many summers at their camp in Erb’s Cove. He was a member of the Balls Lake Fishing Club and enjoyed the outdoors. Devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend. Bert is survived by his children Judy Losier, Barb Dickinson (Fred) and Mark Anthony (Mary Jean); brother Ross Anthony (Jean); sister Betty Bilensky; grandchildren Jeff (Cindy), Russ (Tasha), Tony (Erin), Adam (Colleen), Darren (Catherine) and Darlene; great-grandchildren Courtney, Braxtinn, Bria and Gwyneth; great-great-grandson Logan; cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Along with his parents and stepmother Flossie (Small), Bert was predeceased by his loving wife of 60 years , Doreen (Hunter) Anthony, son-in-law John Losier and brother-in-laws Donald Bilensky and Donald Hunter.
The family would like to thank the staff of Rocmaura for their great care over the past few months.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visitation on Tuesday November 21 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Funeral service will be held from the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday November 22, 2017 at 12 noon. Interment to follow at Fernhill Cemetery. Donations in Bert’s memory can be made to the Edith Avenue Baptist Church or the charity of the donor’s choice.
