Benjamin Leroy Ferris

Surrounded by his family, Benjamin “Ben” Leroy Ferris, loving husband of Gloria (VanWart) Ferris, passed away on Monday, November 23, 2015 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born 1941 in Saint John he was the son of the late Eldon and Alice (Hope) Ferris. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his brother Fred Ferris.

Ben was a beef farmer for many years in Black River and Garnett Settlement and also worked at Irving Paper for 40 years. He enjoyed listening to the Sunday night Country Jamboree. Ben was a hard worker, he was honest, loyal and a great family man.

Besides his loving wife of 54 years, Gloria, he is survived by his children Wally Ferris (Ramona) of Pasadena, NL, Christina Ferris (Paolo) of Manitoulin Island, ON, Russell Ferris (Vicky) of French Lake, NB and Troy Ferris (Laura) Garnett Settlement; cherished grandchildren Christopher, Courtney, Aaron, Michele, Russell, Reyna and Jackson; great grandchildren Braydence, Beatrix and Maxine; brothers Eldon Ferris (Betty) of Saint John and Norman Ferris (Gerry) of Rowley; sister Ruth Cameron (Brad) of Garnett Settlement; several nieces and nephews.

Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) with visitations on Wednesday, November 25 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral service will be held from Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday,  November 26 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, remembrances in memory of Ben may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
