B. Michael McGovern

It is with heavy hearts the family of Bernard Michael McGovern announce his passing which occurred on Monday, May 1, 2017 at the Saint John Regional Hospital.  Born January 4, 1959 in Saint John, NB he was the son of the late Bernard and Vera (Birkholm) McGovern.

Michael was a long time employee in the Works Department for the Town of Quispamsis. He enjoyed fishing, music, travelling and spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his daughters Dawn Wilkins (Cory) of Norton, Katie McGovern of Saint John, Amy Dunn (Steve) of Saint John and Erin McGrath (Patrick) of Black River; sisters Lisa Goguen (Mark) of Saint John and Melanie Hooley (John) of Grand Bay; brothers Mark McGovern of Moncton and Keith McGovern (Mary Jane) of Saint John; nine grandchildren; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and former spouse of 26 years, Diane Kerns.

Following cremation, visitations will be held from Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) on Wednesday, May 3 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral service will be held from Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, May 4 at 11 a.m., followed by a reception at the funeral home.  Interment will take place in Ocean View Memorial Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the John Howard Society.
