It is with great sadness the family announce the passing of Arthur R. Scribner of Saint John, husband of the late Gertrude (Smith) Scribner which occurred on Monday, March 23, 2015 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Youngest son of the late Roy and Helen (Earle) Scribner of Kingston. He was born in Saint John on September 21, 1927 and was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He is survived by one son Darrell (Donna) Scribner of Saint John; two daughters Janice (Fred) Bramston of Saint John and Robyn (Paul) Dickson of Baxters Corner; four grandchildren Kelsey Scribner (Ottawa), Kyle Bramston, Jenna Bramston (Fredericton) and Austin Dickson.
Predeceased besides his parents, were two brothers Donald and Sterling Scribner.
A member of St. Mary & St. Bartholomew’s Anglican Church. Employed by SMT Eastern (Ltd) for several years, owned and operated the Loch Lomond Bus Line and in later years was self-employed in trucking and excavation. Member and past President of the Southern NB Truckers Association.
A funeral service will be held from Fundy Funeral Home Chapel, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) on Thursday, March 26 at 2 p.m. Visitations will be held one hour prior to the funeral service. Interment will follow in Fernhill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in Arthur’s memory can be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association of the charity of one’s choice.
