It is with heavy hearts that the family of Alberta Florence (Maillet) McDow announce her peaceful passing at Rocmaura Nursing Home on December 7, 2017. She was born in Saint John on October 22, 1940 to the late Albert and Florence (McGrath) Maillet and was the loving wife to the late Raymond “Doug” McDow.
Alberta worked for NB Tel as an Operator for many years before moving and beginning a life in Thunder Bay, Ontario, only recently moving back to Saint John. She is survived by her two brothers; Paul (Cheryl) and Peter (Heather) Maillet, three sisters; Ann Marie (Raymond) Roy, Rita (Bill) Doherty and Teresa (Maurice) Brown, along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. Along with her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by her brother Joseph Maillet and her sister Doreen Horgan.
Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424). In keeping with Alberta’s wishes cremation will take place. Following cremation, the family would like to welcome visitors to the funeral home on Monday, December 11 from 6-8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, December 13 at 10am at St. Joseph's Catholic Church (4347 Loch Lomond Road, Saint John) with a reception to follow in the H.O.P.E Center. Friends and family are invited to attend the interment at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Norton, following the reception. For those who wish, memorial donations in her memory made to The Canadian Cancer Society, Rocmaura Nursing Home Foundation or to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by her family.
