Agnes "Aggie" O'Donnell

May 2, 1930 ~ January 16, 2018 (age 87) 87 Years Old

With broken hearts, the children of Aggie announce her passing  which occurred at home on January 16, 2018 surrounded by her children.  Born in Saint John on May 2, 1930, she was the eldest daughter of the late Leo James and Margaret (McNaught) Buckley.  Aggie’s husband Ernie O’Donnell passed in 2005.

Prior to marrying her husband, she worked in New York and Montreal for two years modelling for numerous clothing lines.  After marrying and having her children, she was a manager for Woolco Department Stores.  Employed many years with the Red Cross and Riley Home Care Services. 

She will be sadly missed by her son Wayne of Saint John, daughters Dianne (George) Rutherford of Saint John and Linda O’Donnell of Quispamsis.   Also survived by 6 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, 2 great great-granddaughters, sister-in-law Helen Buckley, numerous nieces and nephews, all of the extended family of her late husband Ernie, his sisters, brothers and all of their families.  She will be sadly missed by her best friend, Faye Short of Sussex, Nancy & Mathew Likely, Staff of Sobey’s McAllister Mall Crew. 

Aggie was the only surviving member of her family.  Pre-deceased by her only sister Audrey Mason (Harry), brothers, James (Bunny), Robert (Phylis), Gerald, Clinton and John.  Her only granddaughter Donna (Marshal) Rutherford, daughter of Diane and George.  Her first born daughter Janet Lee, nephew Jimmy Buckley and niece Nina Mason. 

Special thank you to her #2 son John Mason and his late wife for all of the equipment they supplied to get mom home from the hospital.  Special thank you to Dr. Keith Wilson who went far and beyond for looking after mom and to Extra Mural, Mom’s nurse Pat Beirs for the special care and affection she has shown.  Mom became part of your family. 

Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visitation on Thursday January 18th from 2-4 & 6-8pm.  A funeral service will be held from the former St. Joachims Parish, 603 Loch Lomond Road, on Friday, January 19, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. with interment to follow in Ocean View Memorial Gardens.
